Armar Bordner Cabin "Party on the Porch" Former students, former colleagues,
scouts, friends, neighbors, relatives, acquaintances, sponsors, volunteers, and just
plain curious people joined
In lieu of a ribbon cutting, we posted the American flag, read the cabin history, nailed in the final floor board, and recognized partners and volunteers to celebrate the new roof and other repairs completed to the cabin.
What a spectacular day! Thank you to everyone who
joined us. Together, as a community, we have accomplished a great deal. When
you think about all of the people and all of the time donated to get the Armar
Bordner cabin where we are today, it's pretty amazing. From Township
supervisors, to county commissioners, senators, the secretary of DCNR, and
Governor Rendell, it took government to clear the path and support our
endeavor so that we could lease and repair the cabin. It took businesses
willing to give back to the community with materials and services. It also
took people like you to physically take on a project and get it done and/or to
freely donate your time and financial resources. It is such a privilege to
know you and call you friend--both my friend and a friend to our environment,
culture and heritage.
We will continue to raise money to repair and maintain the cabin. Whether you can donate $5,000 or $5, we will put the money to good use. We recently rented a port-a-potty for your convenience. This item alone will cost us $40 each month. We have a few items to complete before the "no trespassing" signs can officially come down. When DCNR approves our repairs and the picnic tables are in place, groups can reserve the cabin with a donation. Other times, between sunrise and sunset, the public will be welcome to use the cabin. Since there's no electric, until we get a light in the center, you may want to take a flashlight or electric lantern to brighten the place. Your help in "policing" the cabin will be greatly appreciated. Don't forget to send us your signed volunteer form. PS. We keep a broom in the closet to sweep up--hint, hint. Thanks for helping! |
